EUROAVIA Paris at the Kocaeli Symposium: a week of aviation, discovery and friendship
From Monday 18 to Friday 22 May 2026, our delegation took part in the Kocaeli Symposium in Turkey. There were lectures, workshops, flight simulators and visits. The week was both interesting and friendly. From the first evening, we felt welcome.
A warm welcome
The trip began with a barbecue on the evening of our arrival. It was a good way to meet all the participants and to make connections quickly.
A programme about aviation
During the days, professors from the host school gave lectures on different technical subjects, such as turbines and the effects of vibrations on an aircraft. Between the lectures, there were breaks with local specialities, so we could keep talking together.
We also took part in a team workshop. We worked in small groups and followed a kit to build a model glider. It was a practical activity, and it was fun and useful.
Special experiences
On the third day, during the technical trip, we visited a place with two full flight simulators, one from Boeing and one from Airbus. They were free to use all morning, so everyone could try them and sit in a real pilot cockpit.
We also visited the Princes’ Islands and discovered the local heritage.
Evenings to share cultures
On the second-to-last evening, we went to a cultural evening in a villa. Each delegation shared its own food specialities, and the atmosphere was friendly. On the last evening, a dinner in a restaurant ended the week in a more elegant way.
